Commander’s Call: 2010: A time of change Published Feb. 19, 2010 By Brig. Gen. Joseph K. Kim Commander 154 WG HICKAM AFB, Hawaii -- Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I want to thank you all for being responsible and returning to us safely. To all of you who supported the President's visit, my gratitude for the time you sacrificed to insure President Obama's safety. All taskings were met with 100 percent effectiveness. Well Done! We're still in the window for our Alert Forces Evaluation so mahalo for the quick reset! It's been an eventful start to the year! As you know, Command Chief Master Sgt. Jelinski-Hall will be headed to NGB to be Gen. McKinley's Senior Enlisted Advisor, where she'd sure to further the growth of our National Guard and enlisted force. Command Chief Master Sgt. Rob Lee was selected be our next HING Command Chief Master Sergeant. Chief Lee has been critical in the transition and as a friend, mentor and trusted advisor, has contributed immeasurably to furthering the Wing. It is my distinct pleasure to announce that Chief Master Sgt. Willie Rafael will be the new 154th Wing Command Chief Master Sergeant. Chief Rafael is a dedicated enlisted leader with over 28 years of superb service is the Active, Reserve and Guard force. Congratulations Chief Rafael to you, your wife, Lou Ann, and your family. Mahalo to all of you who helped in the preparations of my pinning ceremony to Brigadier General. My family and I thank you for a memorable day. Our TAG Maj. Gen. Lee also announced at the pinning ceremony that he has finalized the selection and that I am your Wing Commander. I humbly thank you for your support in allowing me to lead such a top-notched organization. Let's work even harder together to continue our successes in state and federal missions, inspections and caring for our people in the 154th Wing!
