The Hawaii Air National Guard airdropped members of U.S. Army 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade and the Italian Army 186th Airborne Regiment Forlgore Brigade as part of ‘Rock Drop,’ a joint-forcible entry operation. The drop was conducted with other aircraft from and the NATO Heavy Airlift Wing at Papa Air Base, Hungary, and Air Mobility Command. The operation served as a training requirement for the participating soldiers, qualifying them to rapid assemble and deploy virtually anywhere in the European Theater.
