Staff Sgt. James Kahalelehua, 203rd Air Refueling Squadron boom operator, transfers in-flight fuel to an F-22 Raptor from a KC-135 Stratotanker, April 21, 2021, near Oahu, Hawaii. Stratotanker aircrew provided in-air refueling to F-22 Raptors throughout exercise Pacific Edge 21. Boom operators are trained to pump thousands of pounds of fuel to any capable aircraft, thousands of feet above the ground, flying at 230 miles per hour, while only 47 feet from the receiving aircraft.
