Realistic training
HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, Hawaii -- Firefighters from the 15th Airlift Wing fire department enter a C-130 Hercules with a simulated flash fire as part of initial response readiness exercise here. The exercise, held Oct. 17, marks the first time the base used an actual C-130 Hercules and aircrew to increase the training's realism. The wing's search and rescue team also took part, entering the aircraft -- from the Hawaii Air National Guard's 154th Wing -- to retrieve and process "bodies." The exercise also tested the interaction between the two wings. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Shane A. Cuomo)
